We chose Hilton Moorea Lagoon Resort & Spa for its combination of a spectacular location and attentive service. As General Manager Olivier Larcher described the
lagoon, “the best in the world,” we find it hard to disagree. We have never seen such clear water outside of an Evian bottle. In fact, we can’t seem to stop marveling at it.
But beyond the gorgeous lagoon, Hilton Moorea offers impeccable service that reflects the local culture. The staff is made up of 95% Polynesians who joyfully cater to guests. How often do you get customer service from a happy person? If there is one thing that excites us more than anything, it’s a resort staff that genuinely cares about
each guest having a great experience. We attribute this to the ethic of the culture as well as to the leadership who attends well to the needs of both the guests and the staff.
The over-the-water bungalows at Hilton Moorea see right through to that crystal-clear lagoon below. You can see
the tropical fish from your room, or you can dip down into the water from your balcony for a closer look. It’s a story book setting that is waiting for you to write your personal experience. The food at Hilton Moorea reflects the bounty that is available locally. The chef is French trained and brings the mix of French technique to the local produce.
We just love the location of this resort and its commitment to service. The contrast of the mountains of the island with the clear waters of the lagoon is truly stunning. Again, the lagoon is something that you will be telling your friends about. We tell our friends about it. As far as the service, it is comforting to know that our time at Moorea with not be met with any frustrations, but rather people who intend on making our experience stress-free and giving us a reason to come back to escape the world of our lives.

We chose Tabacón Grand Spa Thermal Resort because it is a remarkable combination of service, location and amenities. Central to Tabacón are the free-flowing hot mineral springs that source directly from the Arenal Volcano. These are rivers of warm and hot water between 77 degrees Fahrenheit and 122 degrees Fahrenheit running directly through the resort. These waters are certified as having healing properties and people from all over the world go there to refresh their bodies and renew their minds. As you can see in the segment, these natural
springs are set in a most beautiful rainforest that completely envelops you in the natural environment.
The team at Tabacón Grand Spa Thermal Resort succeeded in integrating luxury facilities directly into the natural setting. It’s hard to describe in words, but that’s why we did the video for you. The Grand Spa is set within a huge area of the jungle with 11 separate open-air bungalows that serve to connect with nature while offering privacy and tranquility for a whole host of spa services; including facials, a jacuzzi and a 4-hands massage; count us in!
Tabacón offers world-class culinary diversity that includes Tandoor and healthy authentic Ayurveda menus. This resort is focused on offering programs designed at improving the well-being of its guests. They are introducing a new Lifestyle & Wellness Program that provides a comprehensive plan of treatments aimed at encouraging a balanced life and a healthier person.
The rooms and suites at Tabacón are simply amazing. Each room gives the feeling of being isolated in the rainforest but with room service only a call away. The views from the rooms are spectacular whether you have a tropical garden view, a jungle view or the volcano view. And we just love that everything is so green.
As far as the service, it is first class. When we determine which locations to feature, service is a major component and Tabacón is at the top level. The staff is friendly and works hard to make the experience easy. And we go to a resort to take it easy.

We chose Gayana Eco Resort and Bunga Raya Resort and Spa, not only because they offer a unique mix of nature and luxury, but because they have managed to expertly blend the two into a top notch experience for their guests. When we recognize a resort and feature them on our program we seek the extraordinary, and Gayana and Bunga Raya really set the bar high for Asian resorts, and for that matter, resorts around the world.
Gayana Eco Resort exhibits the Malaysian culture of living over the water. Built to mimic traditional homes of Malaysians who making their living fishing, the over-the-water bungalows provide guests with an unforgettable experience of this water lifestyle while receiving the service of a 5-star resort. Our favorite features of these rooms are the glass floor that frames the life beneath the bungalow and the “breakfast boat” which delivers a first-class locally flavored breakfast each morning.
Bunga Raya Resort and Spa stands out to us as a true resort experience integrated with nature. Rather than offering lip service to the “Eco Resort” trend, Bunga Raya delivers on immersing their guests within the natural setting and giving each guest the comfort and service of a high-end resort with the freedom and privacy that one would imagine being in the middle of a picturesque jungle.
Two highlights that we cannot forget are the Marine Ecology Research Center and the certified aquaculture farm. MERC is something that is absolutely unique within any resort, let alone a luxury resort. The marine center allows guests to become a marine biologist for a day; a hands-on experience to see how life is created within the reef and being part of the noble cause of improving the environment for future guests to enjoy. This is just a remarkable feature that we are in love with.
All of the fish served within the resorts are cultivated through their certified fish farm. While operating sustainably, Gayana and Bunga Raya offer seafood dishes that are super tasty and could not be any fresher.
